Speaking about this tie-up, David Shakeshaft, Commercial Director at United Hardware, trading as Homevalue, commented:
We are delighted to be joining the Irish Green Building Council (IGBC) as a Silver Member. This represents an important step for us at United Hardware in our sustainability journey as we continue our efforts of finding ways for us to enhance our commitment to climate action and to building a greener Ireland. We’re at the start of our journey to becoming more sustainable but we look forward to working with the Irish Green Building Council to further strengthen our commitment to sustainability.
As a supplier to over 160 member stores nationwide, we have a role to play in ensuring that we find new ways to promote more sustainable building practices and supply more sustainable building products. Further, it’s important that we play our part to support the transformation of the Irish building, construction, and the property sector into a global leader in quality and sustainability.
At United Hardware, we have a role to play in ensuring that this commitment permeates into our strong regional footprint, with over 160 member, Homevalue stores across Ireland.
The IGBC was set up in 2011 to promote sustainable building in Ireland. IGBC is now Ireland’s leading authority on green building best practices with a network of over 260-member organisations spanning the entire built environment industry. All are united in one common goal to accelerate the transformation of the built environment, related industry, and supply chain to one that is sustainable through leadership, research, education, and providing policy input to national and local government.
