In January, the Homevalue team set a goal of taking part in the ‘Hell & Back’ challenge to raise funds for Peter McVerry Trust. The team decided to compete in the ‘Hell and Back’ challenge on 13th May (unlucky for some) as a teambuilding event and a means of giving back.
Peter McVerry Trust (PMVT) is a national housing and homeless charity committed to reducing homelessness and the harm caused by substance misuse and social disadvantage. Peter McVerry Trust was founded in 1983, and in 2021, the charity worked with over 10,000 people and was active in 28 local authorities across Ireland.
The staff are very passionate about PMVT and the company covered the Hell and Back registration fee for anyone who wanted to participate and also provided the team with branded T-shirts so that 100% of the funds raised would go directly to our chosen charity.
The Homevalue team had 4 months to train and prepare for one of Ireland’s toughest mental and physical challenges. The demanding course included crawling, climbing hills, and a variety of man-made obstacles.
On Friday 13th May, the sun was beaming down and the team were ready to face the Hell and Back challenge! Everyone worked together and motivated each other over the tough obstacles to get through it and fight right until the end. Through all the tests and hurdles, team work prevailed and it was a great team bonding experience for everyone involved.
We finished the challenge with everyone running up the famous Ireland’s Fittest Family Ramp and everybody was in agreement that crossing the finish line (ramp) and knowing that it was all for a good cause was the best part of the day. It was a very rewarding experience and some of the team are already booked in to take on the challenge again very soon.
The Homevalue team would like to thank everyone who have supported them to take on Hell & Back and are very grateful for your generosity.
As part of the charity partnership, Homevalue will support Peter McVerry Trust across a number of initiatives, including the supply of hardware, materials, and resources at a national and local level, as well as with financial contributions and support from over 90 local Homevalue stores, throughout the year 2022.
The team were clean and joyfully unaware of the degree of the challenges that lay ahead for them.
A very tired team celebrates their accomplishment after crossing the finish line!
